Valerie Bertinelli Marks Separation in Europe Following Victory in Not Paying $50K Monthly to Former Spouse
Valerie Bertinelli Triumphs in Exemption from $50K Monthly Payment, Chooses to Celebrate Divorce and Thanksgiving in Europe
Valerie Bertinelli achieved a significant victory by winning the right not to pay the exorbitant $50,000 monthly amount her ex-husband, Tom Vitale, had requested. Although she still needs to pay him a substantial sum, the conditions are more favorable for her. In light of this achievement, Valerie decided to celebrate her divorce and Thanksgiving in Europe, surrounded by her loved ones.
The actress announced her newly divorced status in an enthusiastic tweet, expressing her relief after a year of waiting for the legal process to conclude. While at the airport, en route to visit her son Wolfgang Van Halen, Valerie revealed that her lawyer had just informed her about the finalization of the paperwork.
The legal journey had its complexities as Vitale initially attempted to prevent Valerie from seeking spousal support. Later, he demanded a staggering $50,000 per month and an additional $200,000 in legal fees, despite having signed a prenuptial agreement before their 2011 marriage. However, Valerie successfully fought against this demand and was saved from the burden of paying the requested amount. Nevertheless, she agreed to a divorce settlement, which requires her to pay Vitale $2.2 million, in addition to the $500,000 she had already paid on May 24.
Though the settlement amount may seem significant, Valerie will be able to pay it off in 4.5 years, which is a more reasonable option compared to the monthly $50,000 payment. With the final resolution reached, Valerie now relishes her newfound freedom and embraces the Thanksgiving season with gratitude, while spending quality time with her family in Europe.
Valerie’s Instagram stories reveal her joyous moments in Italy, where she enjoys the company of her brother Patrick Bertinelli, son Wolfgang Van Halen, and his fiancée, Andrea Allsop. Amidst these cherished moments, Valerie radiates happiness, as seen in their smiling photographs together. She captions one photo with the words “grateful, grateful, and blessed.”
The actress shares a delightful video with her brother Patrick, where they enjoy wine together, sharing affectionate moments. In another post, she empowers her followers with an empowering message, stating that one has the right to end toxic relationships and prioritize self-care without the need for explanations.
In a previous interview, Valerie expressed contentment with living a single life, emphasizing that she will be more than happy to happily divorce herself and embrace solitude, along with her beloved pets and family, including future grandchildren. She looks forward to her son’s wedding and eagerly anticipates becoming a grandmother soon. Valerie Bertinelli is truly embracing this new chapter in her life with joy and positivity.
