5-year-old child who was ejected from third floor balcony discharged from medical facility after receiving five months of treatment.
Landen Hoffman, the five-year-old tossed from a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America earlier this year, has returned home after five months of medical care.
The boy’s heartrending tale went viral when a stranger threw him over a railing, causing him to plummet nearly 40-feet to the ground below.
Hoffman endured multiple fractures and suffered severe head trauma, leaving him in critical condition at the hospital. However, new reports now reveal that he has made sufficient progress to begin the next phase of his rehabilitation at home.
Landen’s family shared the news on their GoFundMe Page, expressing their gratitude to all who prayed and supported them during the past 4 ½ months. They acknowledged the hope and love received even in the darkest days, a testament to the Glory of God’s great love on earth.
In August, it was confirmed that Landen had moved from intensive care to a rehabilitation program. The extent of his injuries was severe, necessitating multiple surgeries to address the head trauma and broken bones resulting from the attack.
The perpetrator, 25-year-old Emmanuel Aranda, had no connection to Landen’s family and reportedly told investigators that he had gone to the mall that day with the intention of “looking for someone to kill.”
Aranda faced charges of attempted premeditated murder in the incident that occurred on April 12. In May, he pleaded guilty and received a 19-year prison sentence.
Way to go, little Landen Hoffman! We are overjoyed that you are back home and continuing your recovery.
