Young boy informs police officer he’s vending lemonade to afford new footwear. After several hours, officer makes a comeback.

In Connecticut, a compassionate police officer touched the life of a young boy with a heartwarming gesture that garnered widespread attention on social media on September 3, 2022.

Wendelyn Narvaez, the boy’s grandmother, shared the heartening tale on Facebook. Her grade school grandson had set up a lemonade stand, offering not only the refreshing drink but also cookies and brownies.

As the little entrepreneur sold his treats, Officer Joel Perez, a former military police officer recently hired by the Ansonia Police Department in March, approached him for a friendly chat. During their conversation, Officer Perez inquired about the boy’s plans for the money he earned from the sales.

In response, young Landen revealed his intention to save up for a new pair of blue sneakers for school.

Moved by the boy’s ambition, Officer Perez discreetly took note of his shoe size and left.

A few hours later, while Landen continued to run his lemonade stand, he was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face returning.

Officer Perez came back with a brand-new pair of blue sneakers for the boy.

A heartwarming photograph capturing the moment was shared on Narvaez’s Facebook account, accompanied by her touching words. Landen was astonished and overwhelmed by the thoughtful gesture.

Expressing his gratitude, Officer Perez shared, “I am honored to work for such a great community. Giving back is not only a blessing but a daily reminder of where I came from. Landen, I hope you enjoy your new sneakers and never forget how great of a kid you are. May God bless you and continue protecting you and your family!”

The act of kindness quickly went viral on social media, drawing praise and admiration from the public.

Ansonia Police Chief Wayne Williams also expressed his appreciation for Officer Perez’s exemplary actions, remarking, “These are the types of officers that we are all looking to hire.”
