Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are leaving the United States to start a new chapter abroad.
According to ENews and multiple reports on November 20, the couple has relocated to England and plans to sell their home in Montecito, California. Sources suggest their decision was influenced by former President Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, whom Ellen publicly supported, in the 2024 election earlier this month.
Per TMZ, “Ellen was among the high-profile donors for Vice President Harris, cutting a $3,300 check for her. She also endorsed Harris on social media after the VP was tapped to replace President Joe Biden on the ticket back in July.”
The couple, who have been married since 2008, appear to be settling into their new life in England. Last week, they were spotted at British host Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, in Burford.
In a video shared on Instagram by Clarkson’s girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, Ellen and Portia can be seen enjoying an acoustic performance by The Corrs. They were joined by singer Natalie Imbruglia, best known for her 1997 hit “Torn,” who is currently touring with the Irish group.
For the last couple of years, Ellen has been out of the public eye. Despite her many achievements, Ellen’s career has not been without controversy. In 2020, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” faced allegations of a toxic work environment, with former employees accusing the show of fostering a culture of fear and mistreatment. Ellen addressed these allegations publicly, apologizing and promising to make necessary changes to improve the workplace environment.
During her last comedy set in Santa Rosa, California on July 1, she talked about how her life has been different since her show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” ended.
One fan questioned Ellen when she will appear in the next movie or Broadway show.
Per SFGATE Ellen replied, “Um, no,. “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
“Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
Then she joked that the next time she’ll be “kicked out for being old,” Ellen jokes, “Old, gay and mean—the triple crown.”
The 66-year-old also talked about how her perspective on fame has changed over the years. , “I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now, I realize I said that during the height of my popularity.”
“I am many things, “but I am not mean.”
Ellen was questioned if at a later date she would return to her Hollywood career. She gave a firm “no.”
“This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” Ellen said.
Over the years, Ellen has owned numerous luxurious properties in California, including a home in Montecito. However, she recently made the move to the Cotswolds, a picturesque rural region in England favored by celebrities, which includes the town of Burford. It is located about 2 hours from London.
