NFL Legend Jim Brown Slams Kaepernick’s Anthem Protest, Calls for More Intelligent Actions
Renowned Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown criticized anthem-protester Colin Kaepernick, urging him to act with more intelligence and patriotism.
“I’ll give you the real deal: I’m an American,” Brown asserted. “I don’t disrespect my flag and national anthem.”
He further criticized Kaepernick’s lack of intelligence in his approach to addressing social justice issues. Brown emphasized that intelligent discussions and actions should be pursued rather than kneeling during the national anthem.
“I’m an American. I won’t desecrate my flag and national anthem. I won’t take actions against them. I’ll work within these situations, but intelligently,” Brown stated.
Another point raised by Brown was Kaepernick’s lack of respect for the league and team owners. He emphasized the commercial nature of football and the need to honor the rules and regulations set forth by those who invest in the sport.
“Football is commercial. There are owners and fans. If you’re making that kind of money, you should respect that,” Brown explained.
Kaepernick’s protests have had a negative impact on the NFL, leading to a decline in viewership and attendance. A recent survey showed that the top reason cited by NFL fans for watching fewer games was the national anthem protests.
Brown stressed the importance of intelligence in dealing with complex issues, stating that he couldn’t contradict himself. He expressed that when one signs a contract and accepts money, they must abide by the rules and regulations of the people they sign with.
This stance may be one of the reasons why Kaepernick has faced challenges in finding a new team, as owners are wary of his potential non-compliance with their rules and expectations.
Do you agree with Jim Brown? Do you believe Colin Kaepernick should express himself more intelligently in addressing social issues?
