Jim Harbaugh’s appointment by the Los Angeles Chargers could signal significant opportunities for a certain former NFL star: Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick, who has not played since 2017, has reportedIy been aiming for an NFL comeback.
While several teams have briefly expressed interest, and Kaepernick has participated in workouts for teams in the past, he has not been signed or come close to it. The possibiIity seemed to be dwindling, but Harbaugh’s return could alter that trajectory. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio highlighted that Kaepernick’s major milestones occurred under Harbaugh, who also expressed support for the quarterback during his exile.
Florio also noted that Harbaugh contemplated bringing Kaepernick in to work with quarterbacks at Minnesota while he was being considered for the head coaching position there.
It remains uncertain what Harbaugh intends to do. He has only recently been hired by LA, but the connection to the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is undeniable and could represent his final opportunity for a return.
