These critics have lambasted federal court rulings that limited some of the actions taken by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency—a department known for its aggressive efforts to streamline government operations by shutting down agencies and placing thousands of workers on administrative leave without explicit congressional approval. Musk has even gone so far as to suggest that certain judges should face impeachment for obstructing his initiatives.
However, Fetterman offered a measured counterpoint. Speaking to HuffPost, he recalled past experiences when, under President Joe Biden, conservative judges had imposed restrictions on executive actions. “Now we have liberal judges stepping in to block these measures,” he explained, “and that’s exactly how our system is supposed to work.” For Fetterman, these judicial checks are not evidence of a constitutional crisis but rather a demonstration of the separation of powers in action.

Fetterman also defended his decision to visit Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump, describing his interaction as refreshingly cordial and productive. “It was a positive experience,” he recalled during an appearance on ABC’s “The View.” “Trump was kind and cordial, and there was no theatricality—just a genuine conversation.” During the meeting, Fetterman and his wife, Gisele, spent over an hour discussing critical issues, including support for “dreamers” and food stamp benefits. This personal encounter, which Fetterman described as “totally fascinating,” seems to have reinforced his belief that dialogue across partisan lines is possible and beneficial.
