A Prominent Career in Journalism

Chauncy Glover joined KCAL News as a co-anchor in October 2023, partnering with notable names like Pat Harvey and Suzie Suh. His transition to Los Angeles marked a significant milestone in his career, as he had previously spent eight years in Houston as the first Black male main anchor for KTRK, a role in which he excelled and became a trusted voice in the community.

Before his time in Houston, Glover worked at WDIV in Detroit, where a tragic experience would shape the trajectory of his personal and professional life.

The Chauncy Glover Project: A Legacy of Empowerment

During his time in Detroit, Glover witnessed a traumatic event: a teenager dying on the street. This harrowing experience fueled his determination to make a difference, leading him to create The Chauncy Glover Project (CGP).

The project, a hands-on mentoring program, aimed to transform teenage boys into responsible, driven young men. Designed for boys in grades 7 through 12, the program combined empowerment sessions and enrichment outings with consistent mentorship.

Through CGP, Glover and his team of mentors guided over 1,000 young men, with 350 of them going on to college—a remarkable achievement that speaks to the program’s impact.

When Glover moved to Houston for his role at KTRK, he relocated the project as well, ensuring its continued success. The program became a beacon of hope for boys in the community, teaching them the importance of hard work, respect, and perseverance.

A Voice of Inspiration

Beyond his work as a journalist and mentor, Glover was a sought-after motivational speaker. Traveling across the country, he inspired countless individuals with his story, his passion for service, and his belief in the power of resilience.

One of Glover’s goals was to inspire the next generation of journalists, encouraging young people to find their voice and share stories that matter. His commitment to uplifting others extended far beyond his role in the newsroom, making him a true leader both on and off the screen.

Remembering Chauncy Glover

Chauncy Glover’s sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of many. His dedication to journalism, mentorship, and community service made him a role model for countless individuals.

His warmth, humility, and tireless efforts to uplift others will be remembered as his lasting legacy. As his family, friends, and colleagues mourn his loss, they also celebrate the profound impact he made during his 39 years.

In the words of his family, “He was taken from us far too soon, but his impact will be felt forever.”
