A Member Of Dolly Parton’s Family Has Passed

Dolly Parton’s brother, David Wilburn Parton, has passed away at the age of 82. The news was shared by the singer’s sister, Stella Parton, in a post on X on Friday, November 15.

An online obituary published on November 15 confirmed that he “passed away at his home” in White Pine, Tennessee, on Friday, November 15. The cause of death was not disclosed. David was a retired bridge-building superintendent with Simpson Construction. He had worked extensively throughout Tennessee.

“The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David McNabney, Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, his Cornerstone caregiver, Aubrie Smith & caregiver, Robin Schmidt,” the obituary stated.

David was one of the 11 Parton siblings and the second oldest among the six brothers and five sisters. His surviving siblings include Willadeene, 84, Coy, 81, Dolly, Robert Jr., 76, Stella, Cassie, 73, Freida, 67, and Rachel, 65. He was preceded in death by his brothers Randy, Larry, and Floyd.

David’s passing follows the loss of his brother Randy, who died of cancer at 67 in 2021, and his brother Floyd, who passed away at 61 in December 2018.

David chose to live a private life, away from the spotlight.

In addition to his siblings, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton; two daughters, Donna and Dena; and Lucas, described in the obituary as a “nephew/son.” He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dolly Parton has not yet shared any public comments about David’s passing.
