Sarah Cozad never expected her 13-year-old foster son, DaeSean, to deliver a heartfelt speech during the adoption proceedings for him and his six-year-old brother, Michael. As DaeSean spoke, Sarah, her husband Stewart, and the entire family were moved to tears.
DaeSean expressed his deep love and gratitude, saying, “They all love us… our whole family is the best thing we ever have. I’m glad to have these people in my life. I’m glad to be there so they It’s the best thing I’ve ever had.”
After years of fostering the boys, the adoption was finalized on August 13, 2018. Family and friends joined in the celebration, which included a limo ride, donuts, and a party. Photographer Chris A. captured the special moments beautifully.
Reflecting on the adoption, Sarah shared that while their family dynamic has changed, the love and bond they share remains as strong as ever. With the official adoption, Sarah feels a sense of completeness and newfound freedom as a parent.
