1973 Chevrolet K5 Blazer with Dodge Power Wagon-Inspired Bodywork

This 1973 Chevrolet K5 Blazer was modified during previous ownership with fiberglass Dodge Power Wagon-style bodywork, a ten-point roll cage, and Dana 60 front and rear axles. Power comes from a 383ci Chevrolet V8 linked with a Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission and an NP205 dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes gray leather upholstery, four-wheel disc brakes, dual front and rear shocks, and 16” and 18” wheels wearing 38.5″ tires. The truck was acquired by the seller in 2022, and subsequent work has reportedly included a repaint, along with electrical wiring, rebuilding the carburetor, resealing the transfer case, and replacing the spark plugs, water pump, and transmission cooler. This modified Blazer is being offered in Bradenton, Florida with Vermont registration in the seller’s name.

The US Body Source fiberglass Dodge Power Wagon-style bodywork was repainted red with black fenders during current ownership, and the 1973 Blazer frame is also said to have been refinished at that time. Exterior features include a clamshell-style hood, black steel bumpers, front and rear receiver hitches, a rear tow hook, and a bed-mounted aluminum radiator with electric fans flanked by waterproof boxes for the dual 12-volt batteries.

Black-painted 16.5” front and 18” rear steel wheels are mounted with older 38.5” Super Swamper tires that show cracks in the sidewalls. Braking is through power-assisted four-wheel discs that are said to have been fitted with a replacement proportioning valve, lines, and rear pads during current ownership. The truck is equipped with Warn manually-locking front hubs, traction bars, and dual front and rear shocks that were reportedly replaced following the seller’s acquisition. The power steering fluid is said to have been changed.

The cabin houses a gray leather bench seat sourced from a later-model vehicle and installed by the seller, along with a ten-point roll cage, RJS multi-point harnesses, steel diamond-plate floor coverings, and a fire extinguisher. An Auto Rod control box with rocker switches for vehicle functions is affixed to an upper bar of the roll cage, an MSD ignition box is mounted to the firewall, and the floor-mounted shifter was installed during current ownership. The truck is equipped with an air horn assembly activated via a pull switch.

A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an 8k-rpm tachometer and a column-mounted turn signal switch. A quartet of overhead auxiliary gauges monitor oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. A digital display affixed to the top of the dash contains a speedometer, an inclinometer, and a compass. No odometer is fitted, and total mileage is unknown.

The 383ci Chevrolet V8 is reportedly fitted with Dart 202 cylinder heads and is topped by a single Holley Brawler carburetor mounted to an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold. Additional equipment includes Comp Cams roller rockers, valve springs, and hardened pushrods, a billet HEI distributor, tubular headers, and a high-capacity oil pan. A mechanical refresh during current ownership is said to have included rewiring the truck, repainting the drivetrain components, rebuilding the carburetor, performing an oil change, installing an aluminum four-row radiator, and replacing the exhaust system, water pump, spark plugs, and transmission cooler.
