Woman Turns Boeing Plane Into Fully Functional Home

Jo Ann Ussery’s Unique Living Solution In 1993, Jo Ann Ussery faced the challenge of finding a new home for herself and her children after her house was destroyed in Mississippi.

With limited finances, she couldn’t afford a suitable trailer, but her brother-in-law suggested a unique idea – living in a decommissioned Boeing 727 airplane.

Transforming the Boeing 727 Ussery purchased the entire plane, including shipping costs, for just $2,000 and spent around $30,000 refurbishing it into her dream home.

She creatively turned the 138-foot long aircraft into a fully functional living space, complete with three bedrooms, a living area, kitchen, laundry room, and a luxurious master bathroom in the cockpit.

A Lasting Legacy After enjoying her unique home for a few years, Ussery decided to share its splendor with the world by turning it into a museum.

Unfortunately, the plane was severely damaged during transportation, but her remarkable transformation remains a testament to creativity and resilience.
