Clint Eastwood recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to discuss his film “Sully,” but the conversation took an unexpected turn to talk about his choice of wheels.
Fallon speculated that Eastwood might be the type to cruise around in a muscle car, which seems fitting given his rugged persona. One might envision him behind the wheel of an AMX, a car befitting someone who doesn’t take any nonsense.
However, Eastwood’s ride of choice isn’t a muscle car at all. He prefers something with a bit more oomph: the GMC Typhoon. Back in 1992, when the Typhoon was put to the test, it boasted impressive numbers, hitting 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds and covering the quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds. While these stats might not turn as many heads today, they were blistering for the early ’90s, especially for a compact SUV.
The Typhoon seems like the perfect match for Eastwood: quintessentially American and capable of leaving foreign competition in the dust. It’s a choice that’s as bold and iconic as the man himself.
