Hailing from a coal mining town in Welsh, West Virginia, Harvey grew up with his four siblings in a modest family. His father, a coal miner, earned just $5 a day. As a young boy, Harvey worked on his uncle and grandfather’s farm until the age of 16. He openly shared that his childhood was marked by poverty, and he even struggled academically, failing to complete school.
Despite the hardships, Harvey had a clear goal from a young age. At just 10 years old, he wrote on a piece of paper that he would one day be on TV. However, the journey to becoming a TV host was filled with patience and resilience.
As an adult, when Harvey left his job to pursue a career in comedy, he faced personal challenges, leading to his separation from his wife. He found himself homeless, living in his Ford Tempo, surviving on a meager $50 a week.

Harvey’s relentless efforts eventually paid off. At the age of 38, he landed his first TV job and bought his first car under his name. Until then, all the vehicles he had were hand-me-downs from his father. Today, he enjoys success as a prominent comedian and TV host, hosting popular shows like “The Steve Harvey Morning Show.”
In his personal life, Harvey found love in Marjorie Elaine Harvey, and they share a happy marriage and family life. Despite his triumphs, he remains dedicated to hard work, holding a staggering 12 jobs, driven by his fear of ever experiencing homelessness again.
