Dolly Parton is renowned for her glamorous public image, and the songstress reveals that she enjoys sprucing up even at home when it’s just her and her spouse of 57 years, Carl Dean.
“I love to glam up for Carl,” Parton confesses in a 2022 interview. “Every day, I put on some makeup and style my hair because I think, ‘Well, the whole world sees me all dressed up when I’m out there.’ I’m not going to neglect my appearance when I’m with him at home.”
With nearly six decades of marriage under their belts, Parton and Dean have seen each other in every light. According to the singer, she puts effort into her looks for her own sake as much as for her husband’s. She remarks, “He would love me no matter what, but I want to look my best.”
When asked if that’s the secret to keeping the spark alive in their marriage after all these years, Parton responds, “Well, I believe it helps!” She adds, “Nobody wants to be with someone who’s sloppy.”
“I think keeping things interesting and lively plays a part.” In November, the country icon and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will release her debut rock album, Rock Star, featuring contributions from notable artists in the genre. Parton is known for adding excitement to her career. She unveiled the album’s first track, “World on Fire,” while co-hosting the 2023 ACM Awards alongside Garth Brooks.
