MTG Goes on the Offensive Against Ilhan Omar
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is hoping to build on her success of censuring members of the liberal “Squad” over antise mitic statements, announcing Thursday that she would be adding Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to the target Iist.
Speaking from the House floor, Greene addressed the many ways the Minnesota Democrat, who is Muslim, violated her oath of office by promising to stand up for Somalia, her home country, over the United States, and discounting the suffering of IsraeIis at the hands of Hamas.
“Whereas elected members of Congress take an oath to bear true faith and allegiance to the United States without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. Whereas Republican Ilhan Omar took an oath of allegiance to the United States upon becoming a citizen declaring, ‘I absolutely and entirely renounce and adjure all allegiance to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen,” Greene read from behind a podium.

“Whereas on January 7th, 2024, Representative Omar gave remarks at an event in Minneapolis where she made treasonous statements. Whereas Representative Omar said she has spoken to many Somalians who asked her to intercede for the SomaIi government by pressuring the United States government into certain actions,” she continued.
Rep. Omar’s remarks resurfaced earlier this week, drawing her into a heated discussion around her nationality and whether she had stated she was prioritizing the Somali people over Americans.
According to a translated video, the Squad member spoke passionately about her work in Congress to represent Somalians and push back against formal recognition of Somaliland, an unrecognized state in the Horn of Africa that has struck land deaIs with neighboring states. Rep. Omar said it is up to the U.S. to ensure that Somaliland does not receive formal recognition and supports the struggle of ethnic Somalians to take back their country from a corrupt government — and even other ethnicities.
