At 74, Richard Gere FINALLY Confesses She Was the Love of His Life
Supermodel Cindy Crawford and actor Richard Gere have always been extremely silent about the reason for their 1995 divorce. While much of the media world was focused on them when their relationship went public in the early 1990s (mostly due to their age difference), little is known about the end of their marriage. Especially since little information is out there about Richard Gere, in general. Partially due to drastic changes in his career.
But Crawford may have revealed a lot more about their breakup than fans know. In an unearthed interview with Howard Stern from the late 1990s, the acclaimed supermodel delved into her divorce from Richard Gere as well as some of the most intimate details about their relationship…
Cindy Crawford Revealed The Real Reason She Divorced Richard Gere During An Interview With Howard Stern
Cindy Crawford admitted that she was nervous to be interviewed by Howard Stern during her first of two appearances on his radio show. The first was in the 1990s when the absurdly rich radio legend was still on terrestrial radio and known for being a shock jock. While the 2015 interview on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM satellite radio was far more in-depth and adult, her ’90s appearance was no holds barred. This included delving into her intimate life with her now ex-husband Richard Gere.
While the supermodel waited in the green room, Howard Stern, his long-time co-host Robin Quivers, producer Gary Dell’Abate, and head writer Fred Norris prepared the audience for what they were about to hear. This included talking about her 1995 divorce from Richard Gere, whom she had married just four years prior in 1991.
- Cindy Crawford was 22 when she met Richard Gere, who was 17 years older than her
- According to People, they had very little in common
- Crawford credits Gere for teaching her how to be famous
“Let’s face it, [Cindy] divorced Richard [Gere] because he has no sense of humor, he’s a bore,” Howard Stern said to his colleagues.
Howard Stern continued to bash Richard Gere when Cindy Crawford finally arrived in the studio.
“I knew it wouldn’t last because I don’t like Richard.”
“I don’t. I really don’t,” Stern said to Crawford. “I think he’s a good actor and everything to watch on screen, but I think he’s very pompous.
“You know what, he’s not your type of guy,” Cindy Crawford replied diplomatically.
“No,” Stern stated. “And he’s not yours either obviously. Now you agree with me, right?”
“No, I still like Richard.”
“She says she doesn’t want to see him because she might fall in love with him all over again,” Robin Quivers chimed in.
“Yeah, well, don’t believe everything you read, Robin,” Crawford smiled.
“I still have feelings for Richard. But I was so young. It was kind of like my first great love.”
Crawford revealed to Stern that not wanting to same thing is ultimately what drove her and Gere apart.
